Human Capital Management University (HCMU) Special Education Transition-to-Teaching Application. We are currently gathering interested applicants for the 25-26 school year.

HCMU Transition- to-Teaching is an educator-preparation program (EPP) administered by Fort Wayne Community Schools. We currently only offer a Special Education program. Upon successful completion of the 18 month HCMU Special Education Transition-to-Teaching program, candidates will receive a certificate of completion. Once licensing application is submitted and approval is granted from the Indiana Department of Education, candidates will be licensed to teach Mild Intervention.
HCMU Transition to Teaching Admission Criteria:
- Bachelor's Degree: Must also meet IDOE Transition-to-Teaching Admissions Criteria for Special Education P-12:
- Meet one of the following:
- 1. Hold baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale; OR
- 2. Hold a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution with an overall GPA of at least 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and five years of professional experience; OR
- 3. Hold both a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution and proof of passing state approved content area assessment Praxis 5355 Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention.
- Submit answers to the following essay questions: Questions and answers must be submitted by attaching a separate document to your application under the Relevant Correspondence option.
