PURPOSE 

Perform a variety of duties involved in the receipt, inspection, storage and distribution of food items and supplies; maintain assigned food service facilities according to established standards.   

IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Work Schedule: Full-Time (52 Weeks)
  • Work Hours: Shifts for these positions typically occur between the hours of 6:00am and 2:00pm. Exact start and end times may vary based on the needs of the position.

MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year warehouse, delivery or related experience including work with perishable food items. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the standard equipment, materials, methods and techniques used in the assigned field. Incumbents must possess a valid Indiana Class B Commercial driver’s license. Must have or be willing to acquire forklift certification within a designated period. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Communicate and interact with students, school staff, and department personnel in a courteous caring manner, using good customer service skills. Inspect and receive incoming shipments assuring they are compliant with board of health regulations and HACCP standards. 
  • Rotate items according to FIFO (First in/First Out).
  • Maintain receiving and storage areas, keeping them safe and clean.
  • Distribute items to food service personnel in compliance with orders and specifications.
  • Operate warehouse equipment as assigned.
  • Maintain records and logs as assigned.
  • Serve as a backup driver for Nutrition Services drivers.
  • Participate in Summer Food Service Program as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by the Director to meet the needs of the building/unit.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

  • New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
  • Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
  • Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is required to have dexterity of hands and fingers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking at will. The incumbent will be required to lift, carry and/or push 25 pounds or more as assigned. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
