JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform a variety of clerical duties to ensure proper, accurate and complete attendance reporting a daily basis; coordinate flowof communications, correspondence and information in support of the attendance functions and activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years of clerical or secretarial experience involving frequent public contact. The employee must have strong office, computer, public relations and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the terminology, practices and procedures of assigned office.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Collect and record all notes and excuses that pertain to student absences; write passes for all late arriving and early departing students; print and mail all attendance letters; enter tardies and absences into Power school and Pinnacle.
2. Coordinate flow of communications and information; forward student information given by parent to Registrar, Student Services and Guidance offices as well as school nurse; contact parents about absent students, students who are ill for pick up and habitually truant students; prepare forms for After-School Detention for the student’s fourth absence.
3. Receive visitors, including administrators, staff and the public; provide assistance or direct to appropriate staff; respond to inquiries and provide assistance concerning operations, activities, time lines, policies and procedures related to attendance.
4. Research, compile and verify data and information; prepare and maintain a variety of records, logs and reports related to student attendance chronically ill, homebound and detained students and referrals; establish and maintain filing systems; prepare reports for Status Offender Court Alternative Program (SOCAP) hearings and Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings
5. Provide back-up health services, administer basic first aid to students and dispense medication in accordance with FWCS policies and physician instructions when nurse is not in the building.
6. Perform related duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
PROBATIONARY PERIOD:
- New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
- Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
- Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.

While performing the duties of this job the incumbent is seated or walking at will and must be able to push, pull, lift and carry 50 pounds or more.
