PURPOSE

Perform a variety of technical duties in support of FWCS group insurance programs to provide District employees with enrollment in and continuation of coverage for health, life and disability plans; serve as a technical resource and liaison concerning employee insurance programs.

 

IMPORTANT DETAILS

  • Work Schedule: Year round
  • Work Hours: Shifts for these positions typically occur between the hours of 7:00am and 5:00pm. Extended evening hours are required for meetings. Exact start and end times may vary based on the needs of the unit

MINIMUM QUALIFACTIONS

Any combination equivalent to: a bachelor’s degree and two years working with employee benefit administration or related field.  The employee must have strong office, computer and oral and written communication skills. Incumbents must possess knowledge of the technical aspects, methods, processes, principles, practices, procedures and terminology used in assigned field. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1.  Process the day-to-day operations of FWCS group insurance programs; perform related enrollment, billing, adjustment and record-keeping functions; provide eligible employees with benefits according to established policies and procedures.

 

  1. Distribute, collect, review, prepare, process and evaluate enrollment and other insurance forms and applications for health, life and disability plans; verify and assure accuracy and completeness and make corrections as needed.

 

  1. Serve as a resource to employees and retirees concerning employee insurance programs; respond to inquiries and provide technical information concerning related group plans, forms, options, requirements, policies and procedures; research and resolve issues and problems as needed.

 

  1. Coordinate and conduct open enrollment activities for District employees; enroll, add and delete employees to and from various insurance plans; assist employees with completing a variety of enrollment forms and applications.

 

  1. Coordinate and process benefit adjustments needed for ongoing insurance coverage; make adjustments in response to changes in beneficiary information, termination of health coverage or application for disability benefits; calculate, revise and update records with changes.

 

  1. Compile information and prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports and files related to employee benefits, insurance programs, plans, forms, billings, personnel claims and assigned activities; establish and maintain filing systems; distribute reports as needed.

 

  1. Receive, process and prepare and verify insurance billings for payment; reconcile insurance billings and audit for accuracy; prepare and submit additions, changes and terminations; arrange for insurance billings and collect and process payments.

 

  1. Input, update and extract a variety of benefits data and information in an assigned computer system; establish and maintain automated records and files; initiate queries and generate computerized reports; assure accuracy of input and output data.

 

  1. Meet with employees concerning employee benefits; conduct benefit orientations for new employees; distribute informational materials, insurance packets and enrollment forms and explain health, life and disability plans, programs and options.

 

  1. Maintain current knowledge of various insurance policies; coordinate policy booklet updates as necessary.

 

  1. Serve as a benefits liaison between employees, insurance representatives and various outside agencies concerning insurance plans and claims; resolve issues, conflicts, discrepancies and concerns as necessary; Assist Health Insurance Committee concerning rates and plan design.

 

  1. Attend a variety of meetings, workshops and conferences to maintain current knowledge of applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations.

 

  1. Perform related duties as assigned by the Administrator to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.

 

 

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

  • New employees must successfully complete their probationary period to be eligible to apply for posted positions.
  • Employees must remain in their current position a minimum of sixty (60) calendar days to be eligible to apply for any non-lateral posted position.
  • Current non-probationary employees may only apply for lateral positions at the end of each school year.
