BASIC FUNCTION:

Serves as an educational leader who guides instructional services necessary to educate all students to high standards and ensure that all students meet Indiana's Academic Standards and are aligned with federal, district standards, requirements, laws and regulations Code of Conduct, failure rates, and other required reports as needed. Use and knowledge of data warehouse required. Must possess good interpersonal skills, have the ability to work collaboratively, and facilitate change. Assist with student supervision, coordination of RTIs and IEPs, school improvement planning, data analysis, and assessments.  Must support all students in making positive behavioral changes and engaging parents and the community. 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Possess a valid Indiana teaching license with a minimum of four years teaching experience in addition to a valid Indiana Building Level Administrator License for the appropriate grade levels. Have documented knowledge of district used data software and the ability to analyze and synthesize data.  Must possess knowledge of effective public speaking, de-escalation techniques, PBIS, fiscal management, creative problem solving and practices including principles, theories, procedures and techniques used in lesson plan development, classroom instruction and classroom management in order to guide instruction in the building.

 

Must be able to legally operate a motor vehicle.

Prefer Candidate that has completed the Fort Wayne Community Schools Administrative Intern Program, or has previous administrative experience, coupled with successful classroom teaching, preferably in a large urban district.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Assist in providing instructional leadership for the school; assist in assuring proper implementation of District framework. Coordinate educational functions including practices, instructional material guidelines and requirements, curriculum and instructional strategies. Participate in the development and implementation of curriculum standards and guides SCIP. Monitor instructional activities to assure alignment with curriculum requirements and review, analyze and adjust instructional activities in response to student achievement data. Create master schedule and assist with student scheduling.
  2. Responsible for student discipline functions at assigned school site.  Assist faculty and staff with interpreting student discipline data, developing and implementing classroom management strategies.  Oversee and assist with student supervision, expulsions and manifestation determinations.
  3. Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel as directed by the Unit Head. Assist with interviewing, selection and evaluation of employees. Coordinate staff work assignments and review work to assure compliance with established requirements. Assist in supervision and provide professional learning activities for self and staff  to assure alignment with District Framework.
  4. Maintain current knowledge and assure compliance of educational methods, programs and standards related to school operations and related laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures. Assist in modifying programs and services to align with standards and requirements to meet individual student needs. Participate in and attend district meetings as required.
  5. Plan, organize and direct operations, activities and services at an assigned school including curriculum, and instructional programs, processes and procedures. Assist in establishing and maintaining school time lines and priorities. Assist in assuring related activities comply with established standards, requirements, laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
  6. Coordinate state and district required testing. ECA, ISTEP+, PSAT, SRI and other as required by state and district testing. Assist in the development and implementation of school programs, services, schedules, goals, objectives, strategies processes and procedures.
  7. Coordinate communications to maintain a positive school image; develop and implement communication strategies to enhance awareness of school successes among faculty, students, parents, community agencies and the media. Collaborate with Public Affairs in communicating school successes.
  8. Promote the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner. Must demonstrate participation in and contributions to the goals of district cross functional teams.
  9. Responsible to collect, analyze, report data from Code of Conduct, attendance, failure rates, common assessments, balanced scorecard and other reports as required. Use of data warehouse, Microsoft office suite, SPIDER, and other software applications as required.
  10. Address and respond to all stakeholders concerns and emergency situations.
  11. Perform related duties as assigned by the Unit Head to meet the particular needs of the building/unit.
